Start Your File 8 Months Early

IELTS, transcripts, medicals, police clearance and proof of funds all take time. We recommend beginning eight months before your intended intake.

The full process takes 4-6 months from application to departure. Immigration New Zealand aims to decide 80% of complete applications within 8 weeks.

The Fee Paying Student Visa fee is approximately NZ$850, paid online to Immigration New Zealand.

Bachelor's Degree

Immigration New Zealand requires proof of NZ$20,000 for each year of study, or NZ$1,667 per month for courses shorter than a year, on top of your tuition fees and return airfare. Paid tuition and awarded scholarships reduce the amount you need to show.

Yes. Eligible tertiary students can work up to 25 hours per week during term time, increased from 20 hours in November 2025, and full time during scheduled holidays. The right to work is written into your student visa.

Graduates of a level 7 bachelor's degree or higher can apply for a Post Study Work Visa of up to three years, and can work for any employer in any job. Doctoral graduates receive the full three years.
