Step by Step
Austrian Student Visa Process for Pakistanis
Austria’s visa process is a two-stage system — first securing your Residence Permit (Aufenthaltsbewilligung Student) through the Austrian Embassy, then collecting your Entry Visa D through VFS Global. With proper guidance and documentation, it is very achievable.
Secure Unconditional Admission
Receive your unconditional admission letter (Zulassungsbescheid) from your chosen Austrian university. Conditional letters are NOT accepted — only unconditional offers qualify for visa applications.
Complete Document Legalization
Attest all academic documents through IBCC or HEC → MOFA → Austrian Embassy Islamabad. Budget 12–16 weeks for this step — begin as early as possible. HMARK manages this entire chain.
Arrange Accommodation Proof
Secure confirmation of accommodation (university dormitory or private rental agreement) for a minimum of 3 months. This is a mandatory visa document.
Prepare Financial Evidence
Bank statement must show ~PKR 3.7–4 million (€12,360/year) maintained over the last 6 months. Notarized sponsor affidavit, salary slips, and tax returns required.
Email Austrian Embassy for Residence Permit
Email the Austrian Embassy Islamabad at islamabad-ka@bmeia.gv.at with your complete document package. Do NOT book VFS yet — Embassy reviews Residence Permit first (6–12 weeks).
Book VFS Global Appointment for Visa D
Once the Embassy approves your Residence Permit, they contact you to schedule a Visa D appointment at VFS Global in Islamabad, Lahore, or Karachi.
Attend VFS & Travel to Austria
Submit passport and documents at VFS. Your Visa D (valid 4 months) is issued, allowing you to travel to Austria and commence studies.
Arrive & Register (Meldezettel)
Within 3 days of arriving, register your address at a Meldeservicestelle. Then book your MA35 appointment to collect your physical Residence Permit card — completing your legal residency.
Important: Apply 4–5 Months Before Your Programme Start Date
For the Fall intake (October 1st start), applications should ideally begin no later than April–May. The legalization chain alone takes 12–16 weeks — factor this into your timeline. HMARK Consultants handles all Embassy correspondence on your behalf.
- HMARK Consultants Expertise
With the support of HMARK Consultants, students receive complete guidance on documentation, interview preparation, and visa submission, significantly increasing their chances of approval.

⚠ Important: Austria Does NOT Accept Apostille from Pakistan

This process typically takes 12 to 16 weeks — it is essential to begin early. HMARK Consultants guides you through every single step of this process.
